MRS. HERMAN MULDER DIES AT HURON, SOUTH DAKOTA

Mrs. Herman, nee Edna Voss, passed on at 4:30 Friday morning after suffering a heart attack at midnight Thursday in her home 7 ½ miles northwest of Huron, South Dakota.

Mrs. Mulder, the former Mrs. Fred Van Laar, was long a resident of Alton where her five children were born. She was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary here. She was born February 22, 1904 in Plymouth County and was 45 years and seven months old at the time of her death. When a young child she moved with her parents to Beadle County, South Dakota and attended the public school at Huron. In 1921 he was married to Fred Van Laar, Jr., of Alton. Mr. Van Laar died in July 1940. She was married in December, 1944 to Herman Mulder, also of Alton. Several years ago the couple moved to a farm which Mr. Mulder purchased near Huron.

Surviving are her husband, four sons and one daughter: Gerald Van Laar, Huron; Gerrit Van Laar, Jr., Fort Worth, Texas; Earl Van Laar, Alton ; Lloyd at home and Mrs. C.C. Brunk, Huron. Also surviving are two grandchildren and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Voss, Huron; two brothers, Elmer, Huron and Lloyd, Redwood City, California.

Alton friends regret the early passing of Mrs. Mulder and sympathize with her children and her husband in the passing of his second wife.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Alton Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Pallbearers were Edward Mulder, Gerrit Mulder, Jim Kool, Tom Kool, E.J. Roelfson, Arie Vander Brake. After the service and burial in Nassau Township Cemetery, lunch was served at the home of Mr. Mulder’s daughter here, Mrs. Wayne Nebben.
