DeGooyer, Tillie Mrs. Henry 1863-1941

Sioux County Capital of Mar 6, 1941

Mrs. Tillie De Gooyer died Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mr. W. W. Sadler of Pella at the age of77 years 2 months and 9 days, after a year’s illness.

Tillie Kolthof was born Dec 20, 1863 in Friesland the Netherlands and came to Alton at the age of 16. She was united in marriage to Henry DeGooyer on March 25, 1886 and 10 Children were born to this union. Two boys died in infancy.

The family moved to Pella in 1899 after living in Orange City and in 1914 they went to Sanborn. They settled in Ellendale MN in 1922 and moved back to Orange City in 1929. Mrs. De Gooyer lived in Orange City until the time of Mr. De Gooyer’s death in 1938.

She is survived by 8 children: Miss Nettie of Prairie City; Ima Mrs. L. E. Corray of Las Angeles, CA; Jennie Mrs. W. W. Sadler of Pella; W. H. of Sioux City; John of Sanborn, Arie of Tance City; Frank of Sioux Center and Cornelia, Mrs. Thorvald Sheldon of Clark s Grove, MN

The funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at her home in Orange City at 1 and 1:30 in the First Ref. Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Burial was made in the Orange City cemetery.

Submitter's note: However, no headstone seems to exist for Henry and Tillie in the Orange City cemetery.

According to their marriage record Henry was the son of Jan De Gooyer and Antonetta Willemsen and Tillie was a daughter of Willem Kolthof and Ynsche Bootsma.
