DeGooyer, Henry about 1865 Netherlands, died July 30, 1938 Assumed to be buried in Orange City however no stone.

Henry De Gooyer last Saturday Bert Bomgaars was customary stopped at the H. De Gooyer home to take him downtown. He was not in the house so his sone directed him to the tool shop. Mr. Bomgaars called him but as he received no answer went to look for him and found him sitting on the door step of his shed. He was still living but died a few minutes later. Mr. Bomgaars called for help and they tried to get a doctor but because all the Orange City doctors were out of town. Dr. Gleysteen was called and he pronounced death due to a heart attack

Mrs. De Gooyer who was visiting at Pella was notified immediately and arrived home Sunday afternoon.

Henry De Gooyer died at this home on Saturday July 30 following a heart attack. He had attained the age of 73 years and 10 months. He was born at Appeldorn, Gelderland, Netherlands. He came to America with his parents. Five brothers and two sisters in 1872. They settled at Orange City and he worked on a farm, later he took up carpentry a trade which he followed for 33 years.

In 1924 the family moved to Albert Lea, MN and moved back to Orange City in 1931. On March 25 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Kolthof by Rev. Warnhuis. Ten children were born to this union eight of whom survive with their mother to mourn the loss of a kind father and husband.

The children are Nettie of Prairie City; Ina Mrs. Correy of Los Angels: Jennie Mrs. W. W. Sadler of Pella IA, William of Sioux City, John of Sanborn; Arie of Orange city, Frank of Sioux Center, and Cornelia Mrs. Thorvald Sheldon of Clarks Grove MN
He is also survived by three Sisters, Mrs. Herman VerHoef of Boyden, Mrs. Bert Bomgaars and Mrs. Hattie Pas.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Firs Refomed church with Rev. Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating.

He was the son of Jan DeGooyer and Angenita Willemsen.
