Last rites held at Middleburg for Mrs. Gerrit Willemsen

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 4, at the Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg for Mrs. Gerrit Willemsen who died Monday, April 1, at the age of 76 years and two months.

She had been ill for several months, and had been hospitalized in Orange City and in Methodist Hospital in Sioux City.

She was born in the Netherlands, February 2, 1881. At the age of two years, she came with her parents to America. The family first lived at Sioux Center.

On March 13, 1906, she was united in marriage to Gerrit Willemsen. They farmed near Middleburg.

Mrs. Willemsen is survived by one daughter, Marie Willemsen. Her daughter Kathryn died at the age of five years, and her husband preceded her in death May 23, 1916.

She is also survived by one brother, Ben Wiersma of Orange City; and one sister, (Jennie) Mrs. Pleun De Zeeuw of Hull. Her brother, Elise Wiersma, died June 13, 1940.
