Died: April 17, 1928

John Van Gorp died Tuesday morning at 0:13 o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. Peter Van Gorp, in Orange City.

He had been sick only 10 days, his illness being caused by heavy lifting while at work at the McCormick-Deering Implement Co. Lifting a heavy plow strained his heart, causing injuries which were fatal.

He was 38 years and six months of age at the time of his death and is survived by his twin brother Edward of Orange City who saw service with the army in France.

His father, Peter died two and a half years ago but he is survived by his mother, Dirkje (Van Olst) Van Gorp and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Al Versteeg, Mrs. Hubert Vander Meide and his twin, Ed, all of Orange City; James of Hull, William of Orange City and Dick of Chicago. The latter was expected home Wednesday.

Funeral services for the splendid young man who was cut off in his prime will be held this Thursday at 1:30 P.M., at the home and at 2 o’clock at the American Reformed Church, Reverend J.D. Dykstra officiating. The Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member, will officiate at the cemetery.
