Funeral services were held for Herman Van Galen Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Porter Funeral Home with the Reverend J. Van Zweden officiating. The congregation of the Netherland Reformed Church provided the special music and organist was Mr. John Vanden Betg.

Mr. Van Galen died at his home in Rock Valley Saturday, December 14, 1968, following a brief illness. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Herman Van Holland, Bert Van Holland, Glen Mantel, John Loverink, Robert Van Den Brink and Richard Van Den Brink.

Herman Van Galen was born in the Netherlands March 8, 1892, a son of Martin and Mary (Bunt) Van Galen. He married Hattie Loverink at Rock Valley January 8, 1920, and the couple farmed for some time.

Survivors are his wife, Hattie; three daughters - Mrs. Margaret Van Holland of Rock Valley, Iowa, Mrs. Henry Van Den Brink of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. Henry Burgers of Hawarden, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; a brother in the Netherlands.
