Lawrence Van Dyke passed away in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars, on Wednesday morning, July 17.

He was taken to the hospital for an operation for sinus trouble and returned to his home here, but found it necessary to return to the hospital for further treatment when complications set in.

Lawrence Edward Van Dyke was born at Ireton on October 1, 1909, and later moved to Inwood with his parents where he spent several years.

He was married to Kathryn Vande Vegte at Orange City on October 3, 1929 and came to Rock Valley where they have since made their home.

Mr. Van Dyke was employed at the local creamery since moving to Rock Valley.

Survivors include his wife and son Vernon Lloyd; his mother, Mrs. P. Van Dyke of Sheldon; six brothers and sisters, Henry of Lynden, Washington; Mrs. Bert Harmelink and Mrs. M. Hartborn of Sheldon, Mrs. L.W. Buckner of Watseka, Illinois, William Van Dyke of Doon and Alvin of Sheldon.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home and First Reformed Church, conducted by Reverend H. J. Aberson.

Interment took place at Valley View cemetery. Pallbearers were Bert and Guy Vande Weerd, John Dodeward, Herman Jacobs, Ed Postma and Pete Vande Velde, who bore their fellow workman to his final resting place.

A mixed quartet consisting of Mrs. Jake Vande Weerd, Mrs. Allen Bonthuis, Steve Vander Well and Sam Ver Hoef sang "What a Friend We have in Jesus" and "Just When I Need Him Most."

Those left to mourn have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends and neighbors.
