Jacob Van Diepen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Van Diepen, was born in Dronrijs, Netherlands, Province of Friesland, May 24, 1858, and passed away in Boyden, Iowa, December 1, 1939 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 7 days, following a lingering illness.

At the age of 28, he came to this country and settled in and around Boyden. In the year 1890 he was united in marriage to Diena F. Dorhout at Orange City, Iowa. They settled on a farm two miles south of Boyden and lived there for nine years. To this union, three children were born. They then moved to a farm three miles south of Boyden, where Mrs. Van Diepen passed away on August 12, 1901. Mr. Van Diepen, then, with his three small children moved to town, where he was employed as a creamer hauler for 17 years.

A son, Sietsa,passed on February 8, 1921 at the age of 24 years.

The deceased is survived by a son, Sieba, and a daughter, Susan; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Van Leeuwen of Rock Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hays of Lawton, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ver Wey of Rock Valley, Mr. John VanDer Muelen, Mrs. J. Noteboom, and Mrs. Frank of Orange City.
