FUNERAL SERVICES FRIDAY FOR ANTHONY VANDE WAERDT

Funeral services will be held at the Co-operative Funeral Home here at 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 14, for Anthony Vande Waerdt, 77, retired farmer and longtime resident of the Rock Valley-Sioux Center area, who died Sunday at the Sioux Center Community Hospital following a lingering illness.

Services will be conducted by the Reverend C. Hegenman, former pastor of Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center and burial will be made in Sioux Center Community Cemetery, under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home.

Mr. Vande Waerdt was born September 3, 1891, at Woudenberg, Holland, the son of Hendrik and Willmijatje Vande Waerdt. He grew to manhood in The Netherlands and was married there September 14, 1916, to Hermyntje Van Kolfschoten.

The couple continued to make their home in Holland until 1920 when they moved to the United States and settled on a farm near Rock Valley. They resided in the Rock Valley, Middleburg and Inwood areas until 1925 when they returned to Holland. After only a few months residence there they returned to the United States and continued farming in the Rock Valley, Inwood and Canton, South Dakota, areas until retiring and moving into Sioux Center in February of 1948.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Henry of Orange City; a son, William of Hull; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
