Benjamin "Ben" Vande Waa, 67, a lifelong Orange City resident, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, June 4 from a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the American Reformed Church with Dr. Jacob Heemstra officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge.

Benjamin Vande Waa was born September 27, 1891, the son of pioneer parents, Henry J. and Ellen (Vande Steeg) Vande Waa of Orange City.

In April 1917 he was married to Jennie Sterrenburg who preceded him in death in March 1956.

Mr. Vande Waa served as custodian of the American Reformed Church for several years.

Surviving are his daughter Maxine (Mrs. Robert Freriks), her husband and their two daughters; three sisters, Mrs. Cocia Ver Steeg of Ashton, Mrs. George Haverkamp of Orange City, and Mrs. Guy Vander Burg of Sioux City.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers: Gt. Vande Waa and Henry J. Vande Waa; two sisters: Mrs. Ben Docter, who passed away a few months ago, and Mrs. John Engelsman.
