Versteeg, Jake J. born 1903 died 1989 buried in Sibley Cemetery.

Sibley – Jake J. Versteeg 85 died Thursday January 26, 1989 at his home in rural Sibley. Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday January 30 at the First Reformed church, Sibley, with the Rev. Clarence Van Heukelom officiating. Burial was in Holman Township Cemetery, Sibley under the direction of Andringa Funeral Home, Sibley.

Jake Versteeg son of John A. and Annie Visser Versteeg was born November 30, 1903 in Orange City. He attended a country school through the eighth grade in Sioux County where he lived his youth.

He married Wilhelmina Wesselink of Sibley on Dec 17, 1926 at Sibley. They lived in the rural Ocheyedan and Sibley area where they farmed. Mrs. VerSteeg died in January of 1958.

He was a member of the First Reformed church of Sibley where he served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school superintendent and was involved in various church committees. He was a former director of the Wilson Township #5 country School and Wilson township clerk.

Survivors include his son, Donald James, Sibley; two daughters, Marilyn Maw (Mrs. Kriene) Schneidermann, and Jance Ann (Mrs. Marivn) Runia both of Sibley; 15 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren; four brothers, Bert of Sioux Center, Wilbur of Orange City, Harold of New Brighton, MN and Clarence of Evanston IL. Three sisters, Carried Boone of Sioux Center, Henriett Wesselink of Sibley; and Nelvina Thomas of Orange City.
