Vande Waa Rites Held Friday----Life-time Resident Succumbs May I2th

Funeral services for Gerrit J. Vande Waa were held Friday afternoon at the American Reformed Church with Reverend J.A. Veldman in charge. Burial was made at the Orange City Cemetery.

Mr. Vande Waa died at the Grossmann Hospital Wednesday morning, May 12, at the age of 74 years. Death came as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage following a period of hospitalization of some 6½ months.

Born on October 13, 1879 here in Orange City to Henry J. Vande Waa and Ellen (Vande Steeg) Vande Waa.

Gerrit J. Vande Waa was married Josie Howards in 1903. To this union three children were born.

The wife and two children, Henry J. Vande Waa, Jr., and a daughter Katherine preceded Mr. Vande Waa in death. One son, Gerrit J. Jr. of Minneapolis is the only surviving child of this marriage.

Gerrit J. Vande Waa married Jentena Raman on January 3, 1921. One child, D. Alfred of Zeeland, Michigan was born to this marriage.

Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Jentena Vande Waa, son Dr. Alfred of Zeeland, Michigan, and a son Gerrit J. Vande Waa, Jr. of Minneapolis, by the previous marriage, and one grand-daughter and two grandsons.

Five sisters and a brother are also listed among the surviving relatives.
