Mrs. Henry Vander Zwaag Passes On

Mrs. Henry Vander Zwaag, 91, passed away at her home in Orange City Friday at 9:30 p.m.

Mrs. Clara Vander Zwaag, nee Ravenstein was born in South Holland, the Netherlands and came to America with her parents, Poeter and Evertje (De Ruiter) Ravenstrein at the age of 16. The family settled in South Holland, Illinois, where she was married to Henry Vander Zwaag. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Vander Zwaag moved to a farm five miles north of Orange City where they continued until the time of his death 26 years ago. Mrs. Vander Zwaag moved to Orange City 21 years ago.

Surviving are the children: Gertie (Mrs. Hessel Dykstra) of Sheldon; Peter Vander Zwaag of Orange City; Effie (Mrs. Henry Veld) of Sanborn; Ben, Bert, Jake, and William Vander Zwaag, all of Orange City. There are 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is Mrs. Jacob Van Oort of Orange City, the last living member of the Peter Ravenstein family. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Reformed Church of Orange City with Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery.
