Died: November 24,1919

On the morning of November 24th, Mr. Peter Vander Sluis passed away. For some days past he was not in the best of health, and on Sunday morning, the day before his death, he suddenly became violently ill with a ruptured appendix from which he did not recover.

Mr. Vander Sluis was born in the vicinity of Pella, Iowa, nearly fifty-two years ago. He came to Sioux County while still a boy and lived for some time in Orange City but later moved to the farm a few miles east of town where he was living at the time of his death.

The only near relatives he leaves behind is his mother, Antoneta Vander Sluis with whom he has been living for several years past. His father, Cornelius, died about seventeen years ago and about eight years ago his brother died. His body was interred last Wednesday afternoon in the cemetery east of town in the family lot where his father was also buried.

In spite of the cold and storm a large number of friends and relatives had gathered to attend his funeral which was held in the First Reformed Church, the pastor of the church, Reverend J. Vanderbeek officiating.

The many friends of the bereaved mother will join the Times in sympathy in this her time of sorrow.
