Sioux Center husband and wife die within 6-day period

Mr. and Mrs. Tony Vander Wilt, residents of Sioux Center the past five years, who were engaged in farming between Sioux Center and Orange City for nearly 40 years, died during the past week, Mr. Vander Wilt on May 8 at the age of 68, following a sudden heart attack, and Mrs. Vander Wilt about noon on May 14, after a long illness which required her to be hospitalized for a lengthy period. She also was 68.

Funeral services for Mr. Vander Wilt were held at Free Grace Reformed Church in Mlddleburg at 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 10, and services for Mrs. Vander Wilt will be held at the same church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Services for both were conducted by the Reverend John Ekema and burial for both was in Middleburg Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mr. Vander Wilt was born September 16, 1905, at Orange City. He married Anna Sadie Hollander January 2, 1931. Mrs. Vander Wilt was born in Orange City February 28, 1906.

The couple are survived by a son, Walter, of Orange City; two daughters, Mrs. L. Martin (Donna) Jones of Chaska, Minnesota, and Mrs. Richard (Frieda) Olin of Excelsior, Minnesota; six grandchildren.

He is survived by two brothers, Amos of Sioux Center and Albert of Spencer, and a sister, Mrs. Jerry (Kathryn) Dykstra, of Sioux Center.

She is survived by three brothers, John Hollander of Lynden, Washington, the Reverend Harold Hollander of Wellsburg, Iowa, and James Hollander of Sioux Center; and one sister, Mrs, John Vreeman, of Raymond, Minnesota.
