Died Three Weeks Before Golden Wedding

Mrs. Arnold Vander Wilt died at her home at Orange City on Friday, March 1st.

Aartje Van Oort was born in the Netherlands in 1859 and had reached the age of 68 years and 9 mouths. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Hendrika (Mouw) Van Oort at the age of 12 years.

On March 22, 1879 she was married to Mr. Arnold Vander Wilt and thus this couple came very close to celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

To this union the following children wore born: Henry Vander Wilt, Sibley: Mrs. L. M. Van Wyk, Sioux Center: John, Hospers; Gerrit, Newkirk: Joe, LeMars; Mrs. H. Dykstra and Mrs. Elmer Oelrich, Orange City; Arnold and Wien Vander Wilt, Glendale, California.

The Vander Wilt family have always lived in this vicinity and 15 years ago they moved from the farm near Newkirk to Orange City. She also leaves a number of grandchildren and three brothers.

Funeral services were held last Tuesday from the Trinity Reformed Church, Reverend J. Van Zomeren, present pastor of the deceased and Reverend R.D. Douwstra of Rock Valley, former pastor at Newkirk, officiating.

Mr. Wien Vander Wilt of Glendale, California, who came here to visit his mother, Mrs. A. Vander Wilt, and who remained for the funeral, left for his home last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Vander Wilt of Glendale, Colorado, who arrived at the same time, are returning home this Friday.
