Died: October 18, 1935

Mr. and Mrs. D. Van Eldik, Sr., of Rock Valley, received a message Friday advising them of the death of their daughter, Mrs. Sam Vander Wey, formerly Esther Van Eldik. Her sudden death in the Lakewood Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, is a great shock to her relatives and friends, she submitted to an operation for appendicitis, and was apparently recovering until other complications developed, including a pulmonary blood clot, causing her death Friday morning, October 18, 1935.

Mrs. Vander Wey was born on a farm near Rock Valley July 5, 1909 and the greater part of her life was spent in Rock Valley and vicinity. She graduated from the Rock Valley High School with the class of 1926. Later she attended Hope College, at Holland, Michigan and Central College Pella, Iowa. She was employed by the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago from 1930 to April 1935, when she was united in marriage with Sam Vander Wey, of Cleveland, Ohio where she resided at the time of her death. The remains were taken to Chicago where funeral services were held Sunday at the Zimmerman Memorial Chapel, conducted by Reverend Huffs of the Emmanuel Reformed Church. The remains were then brought to Rock Valley where funeral services were held at the home of her parents, and in the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, conducted by the pastor Reverend Aberson, assisted by a former pastor, Reverend Collenbrander of Orange City, and the remains were laid to rest in the Valley View Cemetery.

The bereaved young husband and other relatives have the deepest sympathy of many friends in Rock Valley, Chicago, Cleveland, and else where they are known.
