SERVICES HELD FOR AART VANDER WAAL

Funeral services were held Friday, at 1 P.M. at the Vander PLoeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center with the Reverend Cornellus Hegeman of Ontario, Canada officiating, for Aart VanDer Waal, 59, of Sioux Center. Burial was in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of Vande Ploeg Funeral Home.

Mr. VanDer Waal died Tuesday, February 25 in the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a long illness.

Mr. VanDer Waal was born on September 28, 1909 in The Netherlands. In 1952, he moved to New Jersey where he farmed for ten years when he moved to Orange City to continued farming. He married Tonia Van Os in The Netherlands on July 8, 1930.

He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors include his widow mother, Mrs. Gertrude VanDer Waal in The Netherlands; six sons, John, Henk, and Walter, all of Orange City; Jan of Luverne, Minnesota, Gary of Doon, and Aart of Hull; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Willeke of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Leen (Gertrude) Wisse of Rock Valley; four brothers, Walter, Gerrit, Arie, and Leen; and three sisters, Gertrude, Roos and Jennie, all in The Netherlands; 27 grandchildren.
