FUNERAL HELD MAY 13 FOR PETER VANDER WEIDE

Funeral services were held at the Netherlands Reformed Church here at 2 P.M. Monday, May 13, for Peter VanDer Weide, 70, retired farmer and a longtime resident of Sioux Center Community, who died unexpectedly at his home May 9, of a heart ailment.

Services were conducted by the Reverend C. Hegeman, former pastor of the Netherlands Reformed Church, now of Canada. Burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mr. VanDer Weide was born June 1, 1897, in the Netherlands and came to the United States as a young boy. He married Hattie Harskamp at Ireton February 28, 1919. All of their married life on a farm near Sioux Center. He retired from farming March, 1966, and moved into Sioux Center.

Survivors include seven sons and two daughters - John, William, Dillie, Alyda (Mrs. Asa Olivier) and Edwin, all of Sioux Center, Iowa, Tony of Woodstock, Minnesota, Harold of Carroll, Iowa, Eugene of Sioux City, Iowa, and Marvin of Orange City, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters and three brothers - Dena (Mrs. William C. DeVos), Elizabeth (Mrs. Cornie DeVos), Dora (Mrs. Dick Bleeker), all of Sioux Center, Iowa, Arie of Boyden, Iowa, Henry of Orange City, Iowa, and John of Maurice, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willem and Dirkje VanDer Weide and two sons, Henry and Kenneth.
