Nellie Vander Veen, 63, died Tuesday morning, May 1, 1979 at the Orange City Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born April 15, 1916 at Orange City. On March 3, 1940 Mrs. Vander Veen, the former Nellie De Jager, married Henry Vander Veen at Orange City. The couple moved to Orange City from Alton in 1953.

Mrs. Vander Veen was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City.

Services were held Thursday, May 3 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City at 2 p.m. The Reverend M.S. Jorritsma officiated. Interment was held at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Funeral arrangements were made by Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.

The survivors include her husband; three sons, Clarence and Marvin of Orange City, Harvey of Everly; one daughter, Mrs. Arlin (Betty) Kiel of Hartley; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Steve De Jager from Sioux City; and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Vander Waal from Artesia, California, Mrs. Floyd (Gertrude) Weese from Levenworth, Kansas, Mrs. Danna (Lucille) Wright from Oregon.

Mrs. Vander Veen was preceded in death by four brothers and her parents.
