Joe Vander Schaaf, a pioneer resident of Sioux County, died Tuesday night at his home in Orange City at the age of 60. Mr. Vander Schaaf had been ailing all winter from anemia and general weakened condition.

The funeral was held this Friday from the First Reformed Church, Reverend Engelsman officiating.

Mr. Vander Schaaf moved to Orange City from his farm north of Alton on the Newkirk road two years ago. He came to the county in 1884 and was widely known thoughout this section.

He leaves a widow, Gertie (Vande Stouwe) Vander Schaaf and three sons, Louis and Gerrit, who are farming near Newkirk, and Wilbur who is attending the Orange City High School; also a brother, Wiebe Vander Schaaf of Newkirk.

The sympathy of their many friends is extended to the bereaved family in the loss of their husband and father.
