Wiebe Vander Schaaf passed away at his home in Orange City very suddenly, January 11, of a heart attack. He had been troubled with a bad heart for the past year. He was 69 years old at the time of his death.

Wiebe Vander Schaaf was born in the Netherlands and came to Pella with his parents when he was one year old. He came to Sioux County in 1883? residing 2 miles north of Orange City. In 1923 he left the farm making his home in Orange City. He was a member of the First Reformed Church.

On August 17, in 1892 he was married to Anna Sipma in Orange City. She preceded him in death. In 1923 he was married to Mrs. Kate Roetman.

Eight children survive who are as follows: Mrs. Maggie Vander Velde, Sanborn; Mrs. Bertha Duistermars, Hospers; Mrs. Ella de Valois, Sheldon; Louis Vander Schaaf, address unknown; Stewart Vander Schaaf, Hospers; Mrs. Lillian Top, Orange City; Mrs. Kathryn Van Surksum, Orange City; and Joe Vander Schaaf of Hospers.

His only brother died February 28, 1922.

The funeral services were held in the First Reformed Church on Tuesday, January 14, with the Reverend Henry Colenbrander officiating. A short service was held at the home also. Interment was made in the Newkirk Cemetery.
