From the Alton Democrat, August 23, 1935, Middleburg news:

Mrs. C. T. de Boom received the sad news of the death of her aged mother, Mrs. Jacob Mulder, who had spent the past winter with Mrs. de Boom and had returned to Sioux Center to the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. Proper, Sr., in April and was there until the time of her death.

Mrs. Mulder passed away August 8, 1935, at 3:30 A.M., at the age of 86 years and 5 months. She was born in Oldebroek, Netherlands, and was married to Gt. Boer who preceded her in death. In 1893 she and her five children came to America where she was married to Mr. Jacob Mulder the same year. The latter also preceded her in death 13 years ago. Since that time Mrs. Mulder had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Proper of Sioux Center, where she peacefully slept away to meet her Savior. She leaves to mourn her passing, her five children, namely, Mrs. C. T. DeBoom (Jane) of Middleburg, Mrs. Peter Proper (Katherine) of Sioux Center, Mrs. Wm. Blom (Fannie) of Hartley, Mrs. Jerrie Sheerhoorn (Mary) of Worthington, Minn., and Gerrit Boer of Wentworth, S.D.; two sisters and two brothers and a host of grand and great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Proper home and 2 o’clock at the 2nd C. R. church with the Rev. Van Dyk of Ireton officiating. Burial was at the Sioux Center cemetery.

MRS. JACOB MULDER, 86, PASSED AWAY AUGUST 7

Mrs Jacob Mulder died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Matherine [Katherine] Proper, last Wednesday. She passed without suffering. The funeral was held Monday in the Second Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Dyk of Ireton officiating.

Mrs. Mulder was married in the Netherlands to Garrit Boer. Mr. Boer died 46 years ago, and Mrs. Boer and her four children moved to America four years later in 1883. She married Mr. Jacob Mulder 30 years ago. In 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Mulder moved to a small farm north of Sioux Center and lived there until the death of Mr. Mulder in 1922. Since then she has been living with her daughter Mrs. Proper in Sioux Center.

Surviving Mrs. Mulder are two brothers, Henry Duim of the Sheldon Home and Garrit Duim, Washington; two sisters, Altje Duim, Holland, and Katherine Duim, Sheldon Home; one son, Garrit Boer, Wentworth, South Dakota; and four daughters, Mrs. Jane Boom, Holland, Mrs. Katherine Proper, Sioux Center, Mrs. Fannie Blom, Hartley, and Mrs. Mary Shairborn, Washington, Minnesota. All the children except Mrs. Boom were at the funeral.
