Funeral services for Cornelius "Cornie" Bakker, 64, of rural Doon, were held Thursday, September 11, at 1:30 P.M., in the Christian Reforned Church with the Reverend Leonard Van Drunen officiating. Prayer services were held at 1:00 P.M. in the POrter Funeral Home. Organist, Mrs. Jake Oostra, provided the music, as the congregation sang "Beautiful Savior."

Pallbearers were Russell and Joe Calsbeek, Albert Bakker, Clarence Van'tHull, Harlan Veltkamp, and Nick Bloemendaal. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.

Mr. Bakker died Monday, September 8, following a two months illness at his home.

"Cornie" Bakker was born in The Netherlands on September 7, 1905, son of Eilert and Fannie (Terstra) Bakker. He married Tilly Kolhaas on March 1, 1940 in Inwood. They farmed at Doon for 21 years.

Survivors are his widow: son Edward of Humbolt, South Dakota, daughter - Miss Clarena of Grand Rapids, Michigan, two brothers - Nick of Rock Valley, Germ of Steen, Minnesota, three sisters - Mrs. Al Heerema of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. Case Bloemendaal and Mrs. Sam Veltkamp of Doon, Iowa.
