FUNERAL MAY 7 FOR GERRIT DRAAYER, SR.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 7, for Gerrit Draayer, Sr., 73, retired farmer and life-long Sioux County resident, who died at his home here May 4 following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend Richard De Ridder and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mr.Draayer was born in Orange City June 8, 1895, the son of Jon and Wilhelmina (Riphagen) Draayer. He spent most of his youth in Orange City and attended school there and at Clear Lake.

He was united in marriage to Jane Langstraat of Sioux Center February 27, 1919. The couple farmed in Carmel and Sioux Center vicinity until retiring and moving into Sioux Center in 1950.

Survivors include his widow; five daughters - Wilmyna (Mrs. Henry Kramer), Kathryn (Mrs. John Calkhoven), Gladys (Mrs. Gerald De Weerd), all of Sioux Center, Iowa, Cynthia (Mrs. Gerrit J. Kruid) of Hawarden, Iowa, and Ann (Mrs. John De Weerd) of Rock Valley, Iowa; six sons - Wilbur and Gerrit, Jr., of Sioux Center, Iowa, Nick of Maurice, Iowa, John and Ed of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Kenneth of Waupun, Wisconsin; 28 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; three brothers - Henry and Chris of Ireton, Iowa, and Albert of Artesia, California; one sister, Minnie (Mrs. Sam Wynia) of Sioux Center, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by: parents; two grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters.
