Mr. Vander Meulen Passes Beyond

Born in The Netherlands on November 20, 1852. Reimer F. Vander Meulen died on October 27 at the age of almost 80 years. The end came after a week’s illness with bronchitis.

He emigrated to America with his family 49 years ago and settled in Sioux County, farming for many years.

During the past 19 years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. P. Noteboom, in Orange City.

He was married to Miss Barbara Terpstra on June 10, 1876, and nine children were born to them. One daughter passed away in infancy and one son Fred, died in 1930. Mrs. Vander Meulen died June 25, 1919.

Children who survive are as follows: Gerrit, Harris, Iowa; John, Orange City; Nick, Rock Valley; Ed, Ocheyodan; Mrs. John Franks, Orange City; Mrs. Peter Noteboom, Orange City; Roy, Ocheyedan. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Christian Reformed Church, conducted by Reverend R. Bronkema. Interment was at the local cemetery.
