Vreeman, Gerald John 1929-2015

Gerald John Vreeman was born January 5, 1929, to John Vreeman and Julia
(Hollander) Vreeman on the family farm near Sioux Center, IA. He attended
country school through the eighth grade and completed his education at Sioux
Center Community High School. Gerald served his country for three years as a
member of the US Army. While in the service, he was recruited by the
intelligence division and served as a courier for the Central Intelligence
Agency in Germany. On December 27, 1951, while on leave from the service, he
married Evelyn Hooyer at the Sioux Center Christian Reformed Church. In 1964,
Gerald moved from Iowa to Quincy, WA. In 1995, he moved to Wenatchee, WA,
where he resided until his death on December 6, 2015. He was a member of the
Christian Reformed Church where he was baptized, professed his faith, and
worshipped all of his life. He served as an elder in the Quincy Christian
Reformed Church where he was a founding member. Gerald enjoyed coaching little
league and being a member of the Kiwanis. He was an active member of the
Quincy and Eastmont Kiwanis for several years. He also was a member of Quincy
Valley Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn
Vreeman; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Judy Vreeman; son and
daughter-in-law, Jerry and Darci Vreeman; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and
Shane Livingston; daughter, Ruth Koopman; and son, Daniel Vreeman; as well as
12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers,
Clayton, Marvin, and John Vreeman; and sisters, Fran TerWisscha, Dorothy
Shockley, Joan Rens, and Marlys VanderRiet. Gerald was preceded in death by his
parents; brother, Dennis Vreeman; sister. Gladys Zuidema; and son-in-law Gary
Koopman.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at
King’s Orchard Church of Christ; 1610 Orchard Ave., Wenatchee. Arrangements
are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
