From the Rock Valley Bee, January 4, 1935:

DAUGHTER OF FORMER PASTOR HERE, PASSED AWAY

Mrs. Eleanor Connor, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. B. Burns, of Des Moines, passed away in Des Moines, December 29, following a week’s illness with pneumonia. She leaves two children, Richard and Kenneth, besides other relatives. She was 29 years old, and was born at Sutherland, Iowa.

The Burns family lived in Rock Valley many years ago, Mr. Burns being pastor of the Methodist church here. They will be remembered by the older residents of this place.

Her death certificate has Eleanor J. Conner; husband W. Glenn Conner; residence 2610 Prospect Road, Des Moines; born Jan. 4, 1905 in Sutherland, Iowa; parents Henry B. Burns, born in Plain Grove, Penn., and Alice B. Kiskaddom[?], born in Butler County, Penn.; died at 9:30 a.m. December 29, 1935; cause, lobar pneumonia, upper left; buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.

The 1930 U.S. census shows W. Glen (26), Eleanor(25), Richard (3), and Kenneth (1) Conner living in Des Moines, where he is a service station attendant.

Her marriage certificate shows groom Wilford Glenn Conner, age 22 next birthday, residence Des Moines, a civil engineer, born in Virginia, Illinois, parents Caroll Conner and Cora Sobdill; bride Eleanor Jane Burns, age 20 next birthday, residence Des Moines, born in Sutherland, Iowa, parents Dr. Henry B. Burns and Alice Kiskadgen; married March 8, 1924 in Indianola, Iowa.

News notes in the Rock Valley Bee indicate that her father was pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Rock Valley in the early 1900s, and moved to Sutherland prior to May 1905.
