D. W. Elliott went to Orange City Saturday morning to attend the funeral of his brother in law Hubert Rhynsburger who died suddenly Thursday morning. Mrs. Elliott was called there last Thursday to be with him.

Hawarden Independent of April 18th 1918

Hubert Rhynsburger, one of Orange City’s most prominent young men, died last Thursday after a brief illness from pneumonia. He was a splendid citizen and his sudden death sent a pall of gloom over the community. His brother, Dick Rhynsburger, is a Captain in the Engineer Corps with the United States forces in France. His father, M. Rhynsburger, is a veteran of the Civil War. Besides his wife and two children he also leaves two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Elliot of Hawarden and Mrs. Leo Oggel of Orange City to mourn his death.
