Mr. Jacob Koob, age 17, of Granville, the son of Aaron and Amy (Reuvers) Koob, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Orange City Area Health System from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

There will be a funeral mass on Tuesday, July 30, at 10:30am, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. The Rev. Fr. Daniel Greving will be celebrant. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with a rosary at 5:00pm and a scriptural prayer service at 7:00pm, all at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Jacob Daniel was born on February 9, 2002, in Mason City, the son of Aaron Lee and Amy Beth (Reuvers) Koob. When he was a young child, he moved with his family to their farm place north of Granville.

He was a student at Spalding Catholic School in Granville through the eighth grade, and Gehlen Catholic School in Le Mars for his freshman and sophomore years of high school. He enrolled at South O’Brien High School in Paullina for his junior year and would have been a senior there this coming fall.

Jacob had participated in little league, band, track, cross country, football, and baseball. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, shooting, and hanging out with his friends.

He was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on November 18, 2017.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, Aaron and Amy Koob; a sister, Bryleigh Koob; and two brothers, Ashton Koob, and Jayce Koob, all of Granville; his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Kay Koob, of Granville; his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Mary Beth Reuvers, of Orange City; three great-grandmothers, Frances Koob, of Orange City; Agnes Konz, of Alton; and Helen Reuvers, of Boyden; a great-grandfather, The Rev. Donald Lenderink, of Orange City; his father’s siblings, Jamie Koob, and his wife, Tara; and Rob Koob, and his wife, Roz, all of Sioux City; and Jessica, and her husband, Eric Hass, of Waverly; his mother’s sister, Jill, and her husband, Seth Vander Weide, of Orange City; as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by three great-grandfathers, Milo Koob, Francis Konz, and Junior Reuvers, and a great-grandmother, Ruth Lenderink.
