Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Reformed Church of Orange City for Ben Wiersema who died Saturday at 5 a.m. in the Grossmann Hospital where he had been hospitalized for the past two weeks.

Mr. Wiersema had undergone surgery at Rochester in July and since then had been in failing health.

Born at Sioux Center April 22, 1883, Mr. Wiersema lived his entire life in this vicinity.

He married Delia Swets in March, 1912.

Mr. and Mrs. Wiersema were the parents of 3 children: Kathryn (Mrs. Henry Van Peursem), Tennis Wiersema, and Nellie (Mrs. Henry Jans), all of Orange City. There are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wiersema preceded in death in 1947. Also preceding in death are one sister, Mrs. Gerrit Willemsen, and one brother, Ise Wiersema. One sister, Mrs. Pleun De Zeeuw of Hull survives.

The pastor, Reverend Henry Colenbrander officiated. The funeral arrangements were directed by the Van Etten Funeral Home and interment was made in the local cemetery.
