Mr. John "Jan" Wiersma died at his home Sunday, July 24, of infirmities of old age.

He was born January 7, 1852 in Uithuizen Province, Groningen, Netherlands. He married Tryntje Biersma in 1878. They came to America in 1883 and lived in Sioux Center until 1912 from here he moved to the place where he died. Mrs. Wiersma preceded him in death February 11, 1928.

He leaves to mourn his two sons and two daughters namely: Isaac Wiersma, Minnie (Mrs. Gerrit Willemson), Ben Wiersma, Jennie (Mrs. Pleum De Zeeuw), all living in this community.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Reformed Church and at 1:30 in the home. Interment was made in the Middleburg Cemetery.
