The Reverend Father James L. Whalen, 45 years old, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church here, Chaplain of 339th Field Artillery in France in the World War and Chaplain of the Iowa Department of the American Legion in 1922, died Wednesday night at Iowa City.
His mother, five brothers and three sisters survive.
