Mrs. Hattie Westra was born at Newkirk, Iowa, on January 12, 1890, the oldest daughter of the late Henry and Jantje (Rons) Brunsting.

She moved with her parents to the vicinity of Hull at an early age, and grew to womanhood in this vicinity.

On January 18,1912, she was married to Mr. Barney Westra at Hull, Iowa.

Seven children were born to this union, one daughter dying at the age of three months.

The family lived and farmed in this vicinity until several years ago, when they moved to Perkins, where Mrs. Westra died an March 14, 1941, at the age of 41 years, two months and two days.

Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Jeanette (Mrs. John Te Slaa) of Hull, Pearl (Mrs. Laurence Tiedeman) of Hull, Dorothy (Mrs. John J. De Boer) of Hull and Henry, Winifred and Bernard at home, and 5 grand-children, also by one sister and 4 brothers, Peter H. Brunsting, Mrs. Conrad De Wild, Albert H. Brunsting and Ralph H. Brunsting of Sheldon.

Funeral services were held Tuesday March 18 at one o'clock at the home and 1:30 from the First Reformed Church of Hull. Reverend G.H. Douwstra officiating. Interment was in Hope Cemetery.
