From the Hawarden Independent, February 22, 1900:

Little Helen, the three months old babe of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drew, died last Saturday after a very brief illness, from lung fever. She was their only child and though the sunshine she brought was only for so short a time it was enough to leave sadness and emptiness when she was gone. We sympathize deeply with the young parents in their great sorrow.

The 1900 U.S. census for Logan Township (Hawarden), taken in June 1900, lists Frank Drew, age 22, born June 1878, married 2 years, born in Iowa, a printer and typesetter; his wife Myrtle M., age 18, born September 1881, mother of one child, none living; and his widowed father-in-law, Walter [V. or U.] Wood, age 50, born March 1850, occupation farming.
