Mrs. John L. Walker, 83, of Hudson, South Dakota, died Sunday, July 25, in a Centerville, South Dakota nursing home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27, 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Hawarden with the Reverend William Carel officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Hawarden under the direction of Van De More Funeral Home of Hudson, South Dakota.

The former Rose Ann Gourley was born on July 8, 1883 in Sioux County. She married John Walker on May 6, 1913 in Rock Valley. They farmed in the Hudson area and later operated the theater and restaurant in Hudson. Since 1957 Mrs. Walker spent winters with a daughter in Chicago and summers in Hudson. Since February 14, 1971, she had been making her home in the Centerville Nursing Home. Mr. Walker preceded her in death in 1957.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Bruce Poole of Sacramento, California and Mrs. Cecil Christensen of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Gourley of Hudson, South Dakota; five sisters, Mrs. Mayme Van De More, Mrs. Irene Kohls, Mrs. Olaf Lode, all of Hudson, South Dakota, Mrs. E. Waldorf of Vinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Jack Wheeler of Lamar, Missouri.
