Funeral of Mrs. Pottebaum Friday
The sudden death of Mrs. Will Pottebaum late Tuesday afternoon was a sad shock to her family and a host of friends in the Alton community where she had lived her entire like of 41 years. She attended church as usual Sunday morning but was taken ill that evening with a heart attack from which she did not rally.
Olivia Minten was born Nov. 23, 1892 on the old Minten farm east of Alton eldest of a family of eight children. She attended St. Mary’s school at Alton and in November 1917 was married to William Pottebaum. She is survived by her husband and eight children, five girls and three boys, the oldest 16 and the youngest tow years of age. The children are Verna, Laverne, Lorraine, Melvin, Dorothy, Wilma, Louis and Agnes. Surviving also are her parents, Mr and Mrs. Matt Minten and seven brothers and sister: Sylvia, Sylvester, Bernard Rose (Mrs. Leo Mousel) of Pierson, Iowa; Peter, Olga (Mrs. Hilary Konz) and Viola.
Mrs Pottebaum’s sister Mrs. Mousel came Tuesday night from Pierson. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at nine o’clock at St Mary’s church, Alton. .
