From the Laurens Sun, June 21, 1934:

Former Havelock Pastor Dies Suddenly Last Week

Rev. W. P. Webb, pastor of the Methodist Church at Gilmore City, died quite suddenly early Wednesday of last week. He retired as usual Tuesday evening and seemed to be in his usual good health. Early the next morning, Mrs. Webb heard him gasping for breath and he passed away before the physician who was called, could get there. Death was caused by a heart attack but he had never complained of ill health.

Mr. Webb was 60 years old and at one time was pastor of the Methodist church at Havelock. While still a young man he had an arm torn off at the shoulder while working on a big Webb press in a print shop in Montreal, Canada. He was a prominent worker in both the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges and was a noted speaker before members of both fraternities. He leaves the widow and one daughter. He was born in Montreal, Canada but was buried at Gilmore City.
