Mrs. James Wakefield was born at St. Albons, Vermont, July 16, 1844. She was married to William A. Wakefield at Malone, New York, July 4, 1865.

She is survived by her four children: W.E. Wakefield of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. Ross Nelson, H. W. Wakefield and Mae Wakefield of Sioux City, Iowa; also by three brothers and one sister, G.W. Orton of Maurice, E.E. Orton of Ireton and Mrs. A. Stebbins of Freeport, Illinois and E.A. Orton of Oklahoma.

She came to the Sioux County 37 years ago and resided in the vicinity of Maurice until the death of her husband September 19, 1915. Since the death of her husband she has resided with her son H.W. and daughter Mae in Sioux City, Iowa, where she died September 8th. The cause of her death being paralysis.

Her entire life has been one of love and devotion to her family of children and grandchildren. She gladly endured the hardships and privations of pioneer days and even in her declining years her principal purpose in life, was the maintenance of a little home.

The Maurice joins in sympathy for the bereaved ones in their deepest sorrow.
