After an illness of a few weeks, due to old age, William T. Wagner passed away Friday morning, March 5th, 1937, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 12 days, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. Belling, at Chandler, with whom he had made his home for the past few years.

Mr. Wagner was born in Crooked Tree, Ohio, August 22, 1848. He spent his boyhood days in southern Wisconsin, and later made his home in Boyden, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mary Harris, from southern Kansas, in 1874.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing, five children: Herbert, of Willow Springs, Missouri; Fred of Sanborn, Iowa; Ada, Mrs. Belling, of Chandler; Pearl, Mrs. William Wahlen, Wichita, Kansas, and Carel, Norbeck, South Dkota, and also sixteen grandchildren. One son, Ivan, preceded his father in death 13 years ago.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the H.F. Belling home. Harry Holland, of Arlington, South Dakota, had charge of the service. Burial took place at Boyden, Iowa. A mixed quartet sang two selections.

"Grandpa" Wagner, as he was known in the community, was a kindly Christian old gentleman, who held the friendship of all who knew him. He will be missed, not only in the Belling home, but also by neighbors and a host of friends. Relatives present at the funeral, from a distance, were Herbert Wagner, of Willow Springs, Missouri, Carel Wagner, of Norbeck, South Dakota, and Fred Wagner and son, Bob, of Sanborn, Iowa.

After the funeral services at the cemetery at Boyden, relatives gathered at the home of Mrs. Belling's sister, Mrs. Emma Stutzman, for a luncheon, and from there went to the Fred Wagner home at Sanborn for the evening meal.

William was my husband's paternal great- grandfather & his siblings were: Charles Wesley Wagner, Margaret Elizabeth Wagner, Sarah Ann Wagner Wilson, & Mary E. Wagner Draper Champlin.
