The Granville community was saddened by the passing of Mrs. George Wagner on Friday evening at her home. She had been ill for several months.

Marie Schaak was born at Harlingen, Grand Duchy de Luxembourg, on September 22, 1865 and at the time of her death was 70 years old and five months of age. She came to this county at the age of 22 with her father. She was married to George Wagner, February 8th, 1893 at Granville. They lived at Alton and Le Mars until August 1898 when they moved to Granville, their home for the past 37 years.

Mrs. Wagner was a devoted mother and well loved by all for her friendly manner and kind deeds. She was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Church and member of the Christian Mother Society for many years.

Surviving are her husband, George Wagner, one daughter, Catherine, Mrs. William Brow of Anton, and two sons, Peter and Deme of Chicago. She is survived by thirteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Church at two o’clock, Reverend Francis Illg officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vincent O’Connor, J.P. Gaui, Herman Hodapp, Dan Rohr, Carl Fischer and August Luken.
