From the Hawarden Independent, February 8, 1934:

Peter Ney, 28, farmer residing near Sheldon, took his own life Jan. 25th by hanging himself in the hay mow at his home. His body was found by his brother, Lawrence Ney of Granville. Mrs. Ney assisted her husband with the morning chores and thinking he had gone to Sheldon to attend a Farmers Co-Operative Association meeting she did not become alarmed until his brother Lawrence, who had attended the meeting in Sheldon, came and asked for him. No reason could be given by his family for the rash act of Mr. Ney aside from the fact that of late he had seemed rather nervous. He is survived by his wife and daughter, his parents and five sisters and five brothers.
