From the Sioux Center News, November 9, 1933:

C. T. De Boom Passes Away

Mr. C. T. De Boom of Middleburg died Tuesday noon. He had been sick three months with a cancer of the throat. Funeral services will be held at Middleburg Saturday. Although Mr. De Boom was a member of the Christian Reformed Church funeral services will be held in the Reformed Church at Middleburg. It is felt that so large a crowd will be present that the Chr. Ref. Church would be too small. Rev. Schuurman and Rev. Mansen will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery at Sioux Center.

Mr. De Boom is survived by his wife and eleven children. But they are not the only ones who mourn his passing. He was loved by the entire community. It is but a few short weeks ago that he was in Sioux Center to bid good-bye to his many friends. He knew that he had only a little longer to live and he wished to tell his friends a last farewell. He was confident that he was leaving this world for a much better one.
