From the Alton Democrat, December 22, 1933: Hull news:

Word has come from Washington that Albert “Dewey” Vanden Top dropped dead in Seattle a few weeks ago. He lived at Hull when a boy. He was about 35 years old and leaves a wife at Seattle.

From the Sioux County Index (Hull), December 15, 1933:

Word comes from the West that Albert (Dewey) Vanden Top was dead. He died while at work in Seattle and was buried there. He was a married man, but had no children. Dewey was born here in Hull and was quite a young man when the family moved West. The many friends here of the family join in extending sincere sympathy.

His Washington death certificate (transcription of selected information, on Ancestry.com) has Albert D. Van Den Top, age 35, died 19 Nov 1933 in Seattle, King County; father Henry Van Den Top, mother Helene Hillmer, spouse Helen S. Van Den Top.

His King County marriage certificate (Ancestry.com) has groom Albert D. Van Der Top of Long Beach, California, bride Helen Ruth Saltgaver of King County, married January 8, 1930.

The Iowa Births and Christenings Index on Ancestry.com has Albert Dewy Van Der Top, born 12 August 1898 in Sioux Center, Iowa, parents Henry Van Der Top and Helena Lucy Hillmer.

The 1920 U.S. census for Long Beach, California shows Henry Van Den Top (age 69), born in Holland, immigrated 1885, naturalized 1890, no occupation; wife Hellina (62), born in Oldenburg, Germany, immigrated 1871, naturalized 1890; daughter Matilda (23), born in Iowa, bookkeeper for a wholesale candy company; son Albert D. (21), born in Iowa, a shipyard worker. Albert was not readily located in the 1930 census.
