The Hospers community was shocked by the sudden death of one of its long time residents, Mr. Peter Tromp, who died of a heart attack shortly after eating his evening on Thursday evening, February 27, 1941. Mr. Tromp enjoyed comparatively good health during the past several years.

Peter Tromp was born March 11, 1867, in Friesland, Netherlands. In 1903, he came to America settling in the Alton vicinity. On March 28th, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Faber. To this union two daughters were born: Fannie (Mrs. C. Mulder) of Carnes and Lilly, at home.

The Tromps lived near Alton for several years. For sixteen years after that they lived on a farm near Hospers. In 1925, they retired to live in Hospers. For years Mr. Tromp was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Hospers.

He leaves to mourn his widow, two daughters, eight grandchildren, relatives in the Netherlands and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Tromp home at one-thirty Monday afternoon in charge of Reverend J.H. Geerilings.

Interment was made at the cemetery west of Hospers. Pallbearers were John Bergsma, N. Hulst, Mince Toering, E. Wieringa, R. Kalsbeck and L. Draayom, neighbors of the deceased.
