Mrs. Jennie Tigchelaar, 65, formerly of Maurice, died on Sunday, October 11. Mrs. Tigchelaar was residing at the Panska Nursing Home in Hawarden, at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 14, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice, conducted by Reverend Donald Blom. The following nephews served as pallbearers: Peter Hibma, William Hibma, Pierce Hibma, Peter Hibma, Peter Van Maasdam and Gerrit Hibma. Burial took place in the Sherman Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Tigchelaar was born on June 22, 1894 in the Netherlands. At the age of twelve, she with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hibma and the rest of their family moved to the United States, where they settled in Sioux County upon arrival. In 1920 she was married to Bert Tigchelaar, who survives her.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Russell Van Peursem, (Evelene) of Orange City and Mrs. Arend Westerhuis (Sadie) of Hawarden; four brothers, Ted Hibma of Holland, Michigan, Gerrit Hibma of Maurice, Andrew Hibma of Hull, and Nick Hibma of Worthington; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Van Maasdam of Sheldon and Mrs. Hattie Van Maasdam of Maurice; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and one grandchild.
