Mrs. Nancy J. Thurman died in Calliope, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Ross, on Monday, March 17th, 1884.

The deceased was born in Flemming County, Kentucky, and had she lived until next June would have been 62 years old. Mrs. Thurman was a member of the Christian Church and loved the society of the people of God.

Many times during her life she spoke of that “land of pure delight where saints immortal rest” and the necessity of making preparations for the future. Her example was such as to magnify her profession of faith and make it honorable. Those who were the subjects of her tender care testify of her sweet fidelity and a mothers devotion. During an illness which lasted through several weeks, she manifested that meek and patient spirit that characteristic of her life. Blessed are the dead what die in the Lord from henceforth, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
