Mr. Cornelius Teunissen was born at Renkum, Netherlands, on February 9, 1872, a son of Jannis Teunissen and Dirkje De Gooier. In the year of 1896 he was united in marriage to Gysbertha Mulder while in the Netherlands, who preceded him in death, passing away about fifteen years ago.

To this union twelve children were born, namely: Jannis of Doon, Jacob of Doon, Dirkje (Mrs. Gerrit Van Roekel) in the Netherlands, Jan Willem of Doon, Anthonie of Sioux Center, Teunis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Gerrit, still in the Netherlands, Hendrik of Fairview, South Dakota, Alberthus of Rock Valley, Willemina (Mrs. William Van Roekel) of Doon, Cornelia (Mrs. Isaac Boon) of Rock Rapids and Gerrit of Corsica, South Dakota.

Also surviving him are 43 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Teunissen was sick for the past year and nine months and was bed ridden for most of that time. He was cared for at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Van Roekel, where he also passed away.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, February 20, at 12 o’clock at the Van Roekel home at Doon and at two o’clock at the Netherlands Reformed Church at Rock Valley. Burial will take place at Rock Valley Cemetery and his sons will serve as pallbearers.
