Mrs. Gerrit Ter Horst Dies After Stroke

Death came to Mrs. Gerrit Ter Horst January 20 at 8:35, following a stroke.

Funeral services were held Monday in the home at one o'clock and in the First Christian Reformed Church at one-thirty. Reverend R. Bronkema officiated and burial was in the local cemetery. Six of her nephews were pall bearers.

Mrs. Ter Horst, nee Clara De Vries, was born September 26, 1879, in Friesland, the Netherlands. She came to America at the age of eight years.

On March 9, 1899 she was married to Gerrit Ter Horst by the Reverend M. Kolyn. They lived on the farm in the Orange City, vicinity until they moved to town in 1924.

She is survived by her husband and eight children, Miss Minnie of Orange City, Bert Ter Horst of Ireton, Mrs. William Gesink of Maurice, William Ter Horst of Artesia, California, Mrs. Henry Bruxvoort, Mrs. Henry Heynen and Mrs. Henry B. Vander Zwaag, all of Orange City, and Mrs. Jacob Vanden Berg of Midland Park, New Jersey. There are also 14 grandchildren.

One daughter, Mrs. Joe Sandbulte preceded her in death January 1944.

She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Johanna Reekers of Orange City and one brother, P.E. De Vries of Sioux Center.
