Funeral services were held Thursday at the Second Christian Reformed Church for Gerrit Ter Horst, who died Monday, September 9, after a lingering illness. Mr. Ter Horst was born in the Netherlands, March 9, 1875 and came to America to Orange City at the age of five. He was married to Clara De Vries March 9, 1899. Mrs. Ter Horst died January 20, 1949.

Survivors include his daughters: Minnie Ter Horst, Arta (Mrs. William Gesink), Bertha (Mrs. Henry Bruxvoort), Leo (Mrs. Henry Heyen), Etta (Mrs. Henry B. Vander Zwaag) all of Orange City and Clareen (Mrs. Jacob Vanden Berg) of Midland Park, New Jersey, two sons, Bert of Orange City and William Ter Horst of Artesia, California, one sister, Mrs. John L. Schoep. One daughter, Johanna (Mrs. Joe Sandbulte) preceded in death.

Reverend Harlan Roelofs officiating at the services. Pallbearers were grandsons: Lawrence Ter Horst, Glenn Gesink, Benjamin Vander Zwaag, Harold Bruxvoort, Arlan Sandbulte and Donald Sandulte. Interment was made in the local cemetery under the direction of Van Etten Funeral Home.
